Patrick Burgess
Patrick Burgess - Former President/Stock Selection Committee Head/Treasurer
Patrick is a 2008 Finance graduate from the Honors College with a minor in Human Biology. He currently works for Citi in Global Product Management on a next generation banking platform. He has held prior internships at Citi in International Securities Lending and Client Management as well as DiamlerChrysler Treasury. As former President (07’-08’), stock selection committee head, and Treasurer (06’-07’) of the SIA Patrick worked to further advance the organization by implementing a new website, further structuring the analyst program and ramping up the educational series. Panos Grivakis
Former President/Co-founder
As former President and Co-Founder, Panos was instrumental in the building of a successful foundation for the SIA. He spearheaded the founding of the Analyst Program which has become and remains a key component for the organization. He was actively involved in the financial markets and co-founded MPG Capital Management, LLC in 2005, a quantitatively focused hedge fund. Over his collegiate career Panos has risen over $15,000 for the University and has completed internships at A.G. Edwards and Goldman Sachs. Panos graduated in May 2006 with a B.A. in finance and currently works for JPMorgan on the Equity Derivatives sales and trading desk. He can be reached at grivakis@gmail.com.
Steven Savickas
Former President/Co-founder
Steven Savickas is a 2005 Marketing graduate from Novi, Michigan. As one of the original co-founders, he utilized his marketing, finance and entrepreneurship skills to build a strong foundation for the SIA. Tom Cosper
Former Co-President
Tom was former Co-President of the SIA and was directly involved in the development and organization of the Analyst Program. Tom is currently an M&A and restructuring Analyst with Moelis & Company. He joined Moelis from Bear Stearns, where he was most recently a Leveraged Finance Analyst. Prior to joining Bear Stearns as an Analyst, he spent two summers interning in both their Strategic and Leveraged Finance Groups. Tom graduated in May 2007 with a degree in Finance. Mike Kaczmarek
Former Co-President
As former Co - President, Mike was active in building a solid foundation for the SIA ensuring the organization continued its growth and success with a vision of educating and providing opportunities to its members. While at MSU he also Co-Founded the MSU Broad College of Business Financial Market’s Institute (FMI). Mike currently works for Wachovia Securities as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Technology & Services Group. Prior to graduating from MSU, Mike completed a position with BMO Capital Markets in Chicago with the Investment Banking Asset-backed Securitization Group, as well as working for various Companies, including Ernst & Young LLP, DaimlerChrysler Corporation, The Michigan Broadband Development Authority, Applied Research Equity, LDMI Telecommunications and the Southern Wayne County Chamber of Commerce. Adam ElBenni
Former Vice President of Fundraising
Adam ElBenni is a 2005 Political Science graduate from Grosse Pointe, Michigan. As former Vice President of Fundraising, he helped to raise money for the $5000 investment portfolio. In addition, he initiated the development of the investment library at the Gast Business Library. Adam is currently seeking a sales position in Bloomington, Indiana. Matt Maiuri
Former Co-Vice President of Portfolio Management
Matt Maiuri graduated in May 2006 with a degree in Economics at MSU. Matt is a person of many interests, but considers following the markets to be his favorite and most rewarding. He has over three years of investment experience and, as former Co-Vice President of Portfolio Management for the SIA, he was resposible for coordinating activities and research for our Analyst Program. Matt spent the summer of 2005 as an intern with Primerica Financial Services and also studied abroad in London, England.
Scott VandeKerkhoff
Former Executive Vice President
Scott's responsibilities within the SIA involved fundraising and portfolio management. Scott has degrees in finance and economics, he has spent two summers as an intern for RMT, Inc., where he developed project revenue and margin tracking databases for company directors. He has been an active investor since high school, learning first-hand by managing an investment portfolio created to finance his college education. His primary interests lie in portfolio theory, and he is also the treasurer of the Eli Broad College of Business Student Senate and a Teaching Assistant for the Finance Department.
Kevin Smith
Former Vice President
During the spring 2006 semester, Kevin facilitated a trip to Chicago to visit with numerous investment banks, bond rating agencies, and the CME. Kevin’s professional experiences include internships with Scottrade Financial Services, General Motors Corporation, and most recently as an investment banking analyst with Piper Jaffray in Chicago. Kevin is majoring in Finance and will graduate in May 2007. He can be reached at smith552@msu.edu.
Sandy Wong
Former Vice President of Operations
Sandy Wong graduated in May 2006. She received a B.A in Finance with a specialization in International Business. For the Summer of 2005, she worked as a Finance Intern at Standard Federal Bank in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her previous internship has been with Crowe Chizek, a C.P.A and consulting firm in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Last summer, she studied abroad at Cambridge University in England for approximately 6 weeks. Her duties as Vice President of Operations included getting SIA members to become more involved through a point system, taking minutes at meetings, and making SIA application forms. Susan Wong
Former Vice President of Community Service
Susan Wong graduated in May 2006 with a B.A. in Finance and a specialization in International Business. In the summer of 2005, she worked with Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, Nebraska. She has also worked with Crowe Chizek, a C.P.A. firm for the past two years and has studied abroad at Cambridge University. As Community Service Vice President, Susan worked hard to involve SIA members in various communuity service projects, such as Project Green, MSU Foodbank, and various walks.
Christopher Michael Ferrell
Former Senior Equity Analyst
Chris' primary responsibilities within the SIA involve the Analyst Program, financial statement analysis, and portfolio management. He has a BA in accounting and economics and is pursuing his MS in accounting. He was also the Alumni Chair and now Honor Code committee member for the Eli Broad College of Business Student Senate, a tutor of macroeconomics and finance for the Multicultural Business Programs, and an active volunteer for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance.
Darin Young
Former Vice President of Information Technology
As Vice President of Information Technology, Darin redesigned the entire website and was responsible maintaining it. He was also heavily involved in the Analyst Program and has contributed and assisted in other areas for the SIA. Darin was an intern at Comerica Bank as an Assistant Project Manager in the Emerging Technologies Department and has extensive experience in the I/T field. He received a bachelors degree in Finance and a specialization in Information Technology. He is currently working at Duff & Phelps in Novi as a Financial Analyst doing business valuations.
Simon Zolotarev
Former Vice President of External Operations
Simon has been investing for the past nine years and recently sold his business, Mercury-Club (The #1 Ranked Fitness Website in the U.S.). He has had various internships and mentoring experiences at 7-Eleven, Masco, and other Fortune 500 corporations. He currently provides consulting services to several small and mid-cap companies, including a manufacturer in South Korea. His focus is to bring outstanding speakers and learning opportunities to the members of the SIA, and is deeply involved in his work as part of the Analyst Program. He will be graduating in May 2007 with a degree in finance.
Liz Cawrey
Former Vice President of Operations
Liz’s responsibilities in the SIA include organizing community service events and maintaining/updating membership information for the organization. Liz graduated in May 2006 with a degree in accounting and is currently enrolled in the Master of Science in Accounting program here at MSU. She has worked for a private investment advisor for over two years and completed an internship at Deloitte & Touche, LLP in the summer of 2005. Liz also spent a semester taking international business and economics courses in Rome, Italy through a study abroad program offered in the Eli Broad College of Business. Jessica Reidy
Former Treasurer
Jessica was a member of the SIA from the fall of 2004 through the spring of 2006. She helped coordinate two site visits to NYC and assisted in developing a system of internal controls. She completed a tax internship with Dennis, Gartland & Niergarth P.C. in the spring of 2004 before graduating in May of 2005 with a Bachelors of Arts in Accounting. Jessica continued her education at MSU and obtained a Master of Science degree in Accounting with a concentration in tax in the spring of 2006. During her graduate year she completed internships with BDO Seidman, LLP and Warmels & Comstock, PLLC while staying active in the SIA. Jessica currently works for BDO where she has been a full-time tax associate since the fall of 2006.
Mike Tierney
Former Vice President of Marketing
As Vice President of Marketing, Mike worked with everyone in the SIA to
improve the club's presence around campus and solidify membership. Mike got started with the SIA as a member of the analyst program and also was in charge of strategic marketing in 2005-2006. Mike has held internships in corporate finance at Quicken Loans, ArvinMeritor and Lear Corporation, and he hopes to start a career in investment banking upon graduating with a degree in Finance in May 2006. Trish Dunne
Former VP of Public Relations
Trish was one of the original founders who grew the organization from 5 to over 100 members in the first semester. Trish graduated in August 2006 with a B.A. in Finance.
